Aluminium Door Thresholds

A door threshold might seem like a small detail — but it does a big job. Our aluminium door thresholds bridge the gap between two different floor surfaces, creating a smooth, flush transition that looks professional and prevents trip hazards. Whether you are moving from carpet to hard flooring, laminate to tiles, or wood to vinyl, the right threshold strip makes all the difference.

Our range of aluminium door threshold strips is designed for the UK market — durable, low-profile and built to handle daily foot traffic without warping, lifting or corroding. Aluminium is the preferred material for threshold bars because it combines outstanding strength with a lightweight, easy-to-handle profile. It is also highly resistant to moisture, making it ideal for thresholds in bathrooms, kitchens, conservatories and utility rooms.

We stock a variety of profile styles including flat, T-bar and ramp profiles to suit different floor height combinations. All products are finished in anodised silver as standard, with further finishes available in selected products. Installation is straightforward — most products can be screw-fixed or used with a snap-down extrusion system, requiring no specialist tools.

With same-day dispatch on orders before 2pm, our aluminium door thresholds are the fast, practical choice for renovation projects, new builds and commercial fit-outs across the UK.

FAQ

Q: What is a door threshold strip used for?

A door threshold strip (also called a door bar or floor transition strip) covers and protects the join between two different floor types in a doorway. It prevents the edges of flooring from lifting, protects against trip hazards and gives a professional, finished appearance to the transition.

Q: Are aluminium door thresholds suitable for external doors?

Yes — aluminium is naturally corrosion-resistant and handles moisture and weather exposure well. Our door threshold strips are suitable for both internal and external doorways, including conservatories, patio doors and back doors.

Q: How do I fit a door threshold strip?

Most of our threshold strips come with pre-drilled holes and fixing screws. Simply position the strip in the doorway, mark and drill the fixing points, and screw down. Some models use a two-part snap system where a base rail is fixed first, then the decorative cover snaps on top. Full instructions are included with each product.

Q: What floor types are aluminium door thresholds compatible with?

Our thresholds are compatible with virtually all hard floor types including laminate, engineered wood, LVT, ceramic and porcelain tiles, solid wood, and vinyl. They can also be used for carpet-to-hard-floor transitions when paired with a compatible gripper or ramp profile.
